Brady & Hamilton’s greatest asset is its people, and we’d love to help you get to know them. For this attorney spotlight, we caught up with Laura Pratt, who has been an associate in the firm’s Lubbock office since 2018.
What do you think is the most challenging thing about practicing law?
The stress. Deadlines, billing pressures, client demands, changing laws, and many other demands all combine to make the practice of law one of the most stressful jobs out there. It becomes very important to learn how to prioritize well, set good boundaries, and establish healthy habits.
What led you to practice commercial litigation?
It was a good fit for my personal strengths and skills. I really love legal research and writing, and I am passionate about seeking resolution through strong advocacy for my clients.
Away from work, how do you like to spend your time?
The Pratt family loves adventuring together, whether close to home or abroad. I also love yoga, piano, and Irish fiddle. In my current role as President-Elect of the Texas Young Lawyers Association, I spend a lot of my time away from work volunteering and leading the public service arm of the State Bar of Texas.
What’s your favorite local restaurant, and why?
The Funky Door. Wine and fondue are hard to beat. Plus, I have a lot of fun memories there with family and friends.
What’s your favorite movie to watch over and over again?
Pride and Prejudice. I have probably re-read the book just as many times.
