The Texas Department of Transportation is currently seeking public feedback on its planned expansion of Interstate 35 between Highway 290 East and Highway 290 W/Highway 71, and there are two opportunities to participate taking place over the next few weeks.
First, the comment period on the project is open now through March 9. All the documents related to the project, and an explanation of how to submit written comments, can be found HERE.
Additionally, a public hearing on the project is taking place on Thursday, February 9th, from 5pm-7pm. Participants can attend in person at the Millenium Youth Entertainment Complex, or virtually. Details about how to participate in-person or virtually can be found HERE.
Known as the Capital Express Central Project, the project is intended to widen Interstate 35 in the heart of Austin, where some of the worst traffic congestion in the state occurs. However, the project will also reshape communities in Austin, and will certainly impact the property rights of residents who live in proximity to the planned expansion.
If you believe that your property rights might be affected by the Capital Express Central Project, we encourage you to seek counsel.
